Abstract. The HTTP/1.1 specification that powered the web for twenty years. Formally obsoleted by RFC 7230–7235 in 2014 and now HTTP/2 (RFC 7540) and HTTP/3 (RFC 9114), but its request/response model remains the web's contract.
