RPM

Low-level Red Hat package format and tool.

RPM (originally "Red Hat Package Manager") defines the .rpm package format and provides the low-level tool for installing, removing, and querying packages. As with dpkg on Debian-family systems, the higher-level DNF and Zypper tools handle dependency resolution above RPM.

The format is used by Fedora, RHEL, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream, and openSUSE.
