Flameshot
A powerful, friendly screenshot tool.
Flameshot captures region, window, or full-screen screenshots and offers an inline editor for arrows, blur, text annotations, and rectangles before saving, copying, or uploading. The UI is keyboard-friendly enough for power users while remaining discoverable for occasional users.
The project began on Linux around 2017 and gained popularity as a friendlier replacement for the venerable scrot, GNOME Screenshot, and KDE Spectacle. macOS and Windows builds came later and broaden its applicability for cross-platform users who want the same screenshot-with-annotation tool on every OS.
Flameshot is available in every major Linux distribution and is especially popular among writers, developers, and educators who take screenshots that need quick annotation. Cloud-upload plugins (Imgur, custom S3 endpoints) round out the workflow for people who share screenshots frequently.
