Exim

Configurable mail transfer agent for Unix-like systems.

Exim is one of the major Mail Transfer Agents (MTAs) used on Linux, alongside Postfix and OpenSMTPD. Its expression-based configuration language is more powerful (and more verbose) than Postfix's, and it is the default MTA on Debian and several other distributions.

Exim handles SMTP receiving and delivery, queue management, and address rewriting; spam filtering and IMAP access are handled by other software (SpamAssassin, Dovecot).
